New Mexico

July 14, 2009

Steve and I visited Las Cruces, NM (with stops in El Paso, TX) from July 9-12.  Thursday night was the bachelorette party, but to protect others, I won’t post pictures : )  It started with a lingerie party and dinner in Las Cruces and then ended up at bars in El Paso.

On Friday we went to Old Mesilla to walk around and shop a little.  We had delicious Mexican food and also took a frozen treat break where I had homemade ice cream and Steve had a chocolate dipped frozen banana.

Friday night we went to White Sands National Monument.  White Sands is really beautiful at sunset and it was fun to play in the sand.  If you’re ever in New Mexico, go!  And it was only $3/person to enter and that’s good for a week!

Saturday morning we went to the Las Cruces market and art museum.  Then we watched a bad movie on TV (Hot Rod) and took a nap.

Saturday night was the wedding and it was beautiful.  The ceremony was short and sweet.  There were sparklers to welcome the wedding party and then homemade apple whiskey, margaritas, and lots of beer.  Plus some Mexican hors d’oeuvres, dancing, and keg stands to end the night.

Southern New Mexico is beautiful, but warm hot.  At least it’s a dry heat and there’s usually a breeze.

More pictures from the trip and wedding are on Flickr.
